Labor Day Weekend

We finally went on a short vacation...we didn't go anywhere all summer, so this was a needed break away.  We went to St. George and while there we went to see the dinosaur tracks (very cool, but I didn't have my camera  :( ) and also went to Zion's.  It was a fun time and hard to come back and get back in the routine! Chris' parents were down in St. George so we met up with them and they went to Zion's with us.

First Grade!

I can't believe my man is in first grade!  This is a new experience for me because he went to kindergarten at the daycare so this seems so big to me!  He had a GREAT day though and loved every minute of it!  Love him!

Life is what happens when you are making plans...

Wow, I am really, really far behind in my blogging. I don't even know when or where to begin uploading pics, etc. And as of right now, any pictures that are presently on my camera are staying there as my camera cord seems to have gone to the wayside. I think I will just post as of today and backlog as I get a chance/desire.

So life happens when you are making plans.....

As many of you know I have been working on pre-requisites to begin a graduate degree this upcoming Fall 2010. I had enrolled in a GMAT prep class and was actually excited to start studying and take this test. I was getting ready to get all my application materials and contact references. The last few weeks Chris and I had come across a good deal on tile and decided to rip out all the vinyl in our home. This was quite an undertaking and BOY was I glad when it was done and now I have a beautiful new floor! However, I started to feel a bit sick toward the end of this project....I thought maybe I was getting the flu, or worse, the swine flu, but I just couldn't kick whatever was bothering me. I began feeling tired all the time, getting nauseated and when I started throwing up on a regular basis I knew something was really wrong with me. At work I had the chance to fly in a blackhawk helicopter and I wasn't feeling particularly well, but figured, hey...when will I get this chance again so I went for it. It was definitely an AWESOME ride. However, I had about enough just as we landed. I made it back to my office only to lose it in my trash can....I told my co-worker I was leaving and headed straight to Walgreens to buy a "test." I drove to my parent's house (already in tears) and proceeded to take the "test." I came out of the bathroom in tears, completely distraught and told my parents to promise not to tell the baby that I cried when I found out (I will have to delete this post later I guess!). I couldn't believe it, this was not planned, this was not what was supposed to happen! I am a planner...I say when...I say how! Chris was in a bit of shock himself and hardly said two words for at least two days...this was a little hard to swallow for the both of us, but I think finally....we have come to terms and accepted that we are going to have 3 kids! Not sure my sanity can handle 3, but we will see!

I am still unsure exactly how far along I am...guessing about 8 weeks. I guess the Lord decides what direction we should go in as I had already scheduled to have an IUD inserted. So for now, graduate plans have been put on the backburner and the new plan is baby #3! Wish us luck! We are going to need it!

Catching Up

Wow, it has been a while since I posted anything. I think life has just been busy and I have gotten lazy! Carter turned two! He had such a fun little birthday! He got lots of Thomas the Train things and had a Thomas themed party. He got a sand and water table from his grandparents that the neighborhood turned into a mud table and Carter thought looked yummy.

Traumatized?

I took Brady to his 5 year old well child visit on Friday. I thought I was preparing him for what was to come when I told him that he would need to get shots. That OBVIOUSLY was a mistake in that I put the idea in his head and it started freaking him out. So we get to the doctor and are in the waiting room and he needs to go potty, I let him...no big deal. No one bothered to tell me that in 5 minutes he would be asked to pee in a cup....that hadn't ever happened at any previous well child visit. So we go through all the nurse stuff, weight, height, eye check, etc. then they tell him to go pee in a cup. I go in the bathroom with him (as he is laughing hysterically that he has to pee in a cup...) and of course he can't go. So we go back to the room, tell them "no luck" they bring him a juice box which he downs while I am trying to distract Carter who is mad he didn't get a juice box....the nurse askes him all the standard questions....can you skip..show me, this and that and then we go try to pee again. Nope, not even two drops. Juice box #2 comes in, and by then I have to ask them to bring one for Carter too cause he was going to have a major meltdown if he didn't get a juicebox. The nurse wants to prick Brady's finger to draw a little blood so that she can test his iron levels. He is petrified, hiding in the corner. I tell him it won't hurt and even volunteered to do it first. Even after I had my finger pricked, he wouldn't do it and I had to pretty much hold him down to get his finger pricked. I am somewhat laughing at the way Brady is acting cause he has never done this before. He is still panicking about getting shots when the Dr. comes in. The Dr. was good and joked around with him about things and the way he was acting and such. Then we go try to pee for the 3rd time, Carter is throwing a fit cause he wants the "cup" to get a drink... Brady finally does the deed and we go back in the room. The nurse comes in and Brady is hiding under the table holding onto the leg for dear life and refuses to come out. She brings him a bag full of tons of cool toys and prizes, it peeks his interest, but we won't give it to him until he comes out. Nope, not moving. I tried threatening him (like that ever works) that we would go straight home and he would have to miss his friend's birthday party at Jump on It, nothing. I tried bribing him with the chance to go to the toy store, nothing. So finally I gave him the choice, "easy way or hard way?" He knows what is coming, but still refuses to come out. So the nurse gets another nurse and they get the needles ready....I crawl under the table, push him under the middle bar of the table while prying his hands off of the leg, pull him out, while pulling off his pants and he is screaming to stop pulling his pants off...get him pinned and wham, shots are done before he even knew what had happened. Such DRAMA! Seriously, it was pretty funny, but I wonder now if he will always remember this traumatizing experience......I know I will.

In the car, on the way to the birthday party, he asks when he gets to go to the toy store for his new toy!! HA, I don't think so child....

LOVE YOU BRADY

GROW Child!

I took Carter to the doctor today because he wasn't feeling well...he weighed in at a whopping........................23 pounds! I think that is good, considering one pound per MONTH in age! Can't wait to see what Dr. Knorr says in May...."feed that kid peanut butter!" (what! ICEE's don't count??) The kid eats, he is just small......maybe he will stay my baby forever! :) Hey at least he can tell me to "go away"; "leave me alone"; "show me"; and basically anything else, so I consider that a success!

Mom update

I haven't posted about my mom lately. She is doing okay. She isn't doing great, but she is tough and is hanging in there. She has lost all of her hair, but is still really beautiful to me - she's my mom and I love her. She has had two rounds of chemotherapy and has two to go. This last round is taking its toll on her and she isn't bouncing back quite as quickly as she had hoped, her white blood cell count is down, but she is in good spirits. Today was a good day, so here's to hoping tomorrow is too! Love you mom!

What ya' been up to?

Fish - it's what's for dinner.
Chris went fishing on Saturday...Carter loves touching these headless creatures in the bag.
We went and fed the ducks. (Also notice the boys got haircuts.)

Brady (and Carter, he is the tag along) and some of his neighborhood friends eating ice cream cones in the backyard.
A few pics of Brady on his actual birthday.
An everyday occurance, Carter playing in my shoes. (Chris is secretly afraid he will be a cross dresser. He is surprisingly good at walking in heels.)
I've been case lot shopping. Carter has been pursuing his career as an architect.
