What ya' been up to?

Fish - it's what's for dinner.
Chris went fishing on Saturday...Carter loves touching these headless creatures in the bag.
We went and fed the ducks. (Also notice the boys got haircuts.)

Brady (and Carter, he is the tag along) and some of his neighborhood friends eating ice cream cones in the backyard.
A few pics of Brady on his actual birthday.
An everyday occurance, Carter playing in my shoes. (Chris is secretly afraid he will be a cross dresser. He is surprisingly good at walking in heels.)
I've been case lot shopping. Carter has been pursuing his career as an architect.

Brady's Birthday Party

Brady turns the BIG 5 this week on Thursday. Last weekend we had all his neighborhood friends over for a Spiderman Party! The kids had a lot of fun playing spiderman bingo, spiderwalk, getting to choose their own custom tattoos, and especially hitting the "whacker thing!" (that is what Brady calls the Pinata.) Thanks to all Brady's friends for coming to celebrate with us!

Sorry the pics are not so great...my camera is having issues, so you only get the somewhat okay pics!

Brady had to pop this ballon from Sterling, his present was INSIDE! The kids loved it, but take a look at them all covering their ears! HA HA

Valentines Day 2009

Valentines Day this year was fun. The kids LOVE their new valentines day surprises. I am not a big lover of stuffed animals, but I couldn't resist and the kids love them. A valentine backrub. Thanks daddy!

A GIANT musical card! Brady has been asking for this card for weeks since the first time we saw it at the store. You should see the kids boogie to "Shake, Rattle and Roll!"

Just for Fun

Just a fun, albeit short, video of my dancing duo.

My Family

I had all my siblings over for dinner on Sunday..it was fun to have everyone together. Over the years we have been a bit scattered, but now only one lives airplane distance :(. I never realized I was the shortest of the bunch...but I am still the coolest. ;)

We are standing in chronological order (that is how my dad wanted it...) Travis Honeycutt, Kyle Honeycutt, Jerilynn Honeycutt Phillips, Adrienne Honeycutt Jensen, me (Tami Honeycutt Jensen), Kevin Honeycutt and mom and dad (Ken and LeeAnn Honeycutt) in the front.

Bet you didn't know I shared the same last name as my sister! And no, our husbands are not related...

Ray of Sunshine

I tell you what...my life seems to be a ray of sunshine!

So this morning I was informed that a former co-worker of mine was killed in a head on collision over the weekend. This guy was such a sweet guy, we worked together for 4 or 5 years until he graduated and moved on. He finally got married in November...so about 4 months ago! Such a tragedy..

My other co-worker has been diagnosed with blood cancer and will be undergoing massive chemotherapy treatments that will not be fun and she will be very sick for a long time. I am wishing her well.

Another co-worker of mine fell and broke her arm today and 2 others recently had pretty serious surgeries as well. We often joke around this place that this building is somehow jinxed because so MANY people that have worked here have died or gotten seriously ill over the years. I guess I better get out now...yikes!

My mom is on the mend from her last surgery and is just waiting to heal before she starts chemotherapy treatments, but otherwise is doing well.

Update

My mom had her first surgery and it went very well. It doesn't look like the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes or anything, but it is still a very aggressive cancer. Based on the pathology report the surgeon and oncologist want to go back in and take more tissue. She is scheduled for a second surgery on Monday. After that she will need to heal for a month and then she will begin chemotherapy treatments and then radiation after that. So hopefully in a couple months she will be cancer free. Crossing my fingers.

My co-worker's surgery went well and they were able to remove the tumor. However, she has now been diagnosed with diffused large D cell lymphoma and I guess it is a type that develops from somewhere else in your body. They have not been able to find it elsewhere and are now testing her bone marrow...that is not good news. So keep praying for her and my mom.

If I ever have anything cheery to talk about I will make sure to post it!

Some events..

I don't really have a journal, persay...so I am going to try to be better about recording some of the things I need to remember, promptings, etc. So this may be a little crazy...

This week has been a pretty emotional week for my family. My mother was diagnosed with cancer on Monday and it has somewhat been a whirlwind kind of week since.

I am so grateful for friends who are willing to help me and my mother through this process through sharing their experiences and words of kindness and wisdom with us. When I found out about my mother Monday night, my instincts immediately told me to get her and my co-worker (who I consider a dear friend) talking. My co-worker has had several bouts of cancer and has learned valuable lessons through each trial. After I shared some of my thoughts with my mother I immediately called my friend who in turn immediately called my mother, having maybe only had minimal contact with her throughout our years working together. Because of this call however, my mother decided to take her advice and go contrary to her family doctor's suggestion to wait an additional week to see the oncologist prior to speaking to a surgeon. That same night she called a family friend at home who is a surgeon in this field, hoping that maybe because of the personal connection that she would not just become another person on the waiting list and that she may be able to get in sooner. I am so grateful that she did because today, 3 days later, she is in surgery. The surgeon also said it was best to see him first and that the oncologist would not have been able to do anything prior to surgery. Although we don't know the outcome of the surgery yet and she won't meet with her oncologist until Wednesday I am more optomistic everyday. So today I am fasting and praying that the cancer is isolated and will be able to be removed easily and that it has not spread to lymph nodes or anything else that would cause trouble.

I am grateful for my sister and her unwavering faith and dedication to the gospel. She immediatly phoned her family members and close friends Monday and setup a special day to fast and pray for my mother. Her testimony and her strong belief in the power of this was encouraging and I also invited other extended family members and friends to join with us today and I know many have.

In addition to these small blessings, it is sometimes hard to see what following promptings will bring and what the result will be. Back in August Chris and I decided we wanted to go on another cruise, we made all the arrangements, paid for it, everything....but by October we both just felt like maybe we shouldn't go. We felt that it wasn't good for us to "dump" our kids on our parents and that something just seemed off, so we cancelled it, losing some money by doing so. We have wished several times we were still going, but now we see why it was best to stay home. It would have been terrible for my parents to have my children at this time and for us to go off playing, it would not have been any fun and we would have been worried and stressing the entire time. The cruise leaves next week.

This same week another co-worker of mine was diagnosed with a brain tumor and they will be operating on her Monday. It has been said that when it rains, it pours! So I humbly ask all my friends and family to keep these two people in your prayers. We are doing fine and are grateful for all the blessing that we have, we know and have faith that things will work out the way they are intended. Love to all!

Best of Friends

Every month I get together with a group of ladies, most of which I have known now for about 7 years. Even with moves, ward changes and life changes we have all managed to stay a pack. These are the best women and we can share anything with each other...and mind you we do! There is no holding back with this group! Thanks to all you wonderful women for being my friend! I love ya!

Superhero Fantasy

What would my blog be like without a few Christmas pics! Most everything that Brady recieved for Christmas was related to superhero's in some fashion. Grandma and grandpa Honeycutt gave the boys superman PJ's that Carter refuses to take off....he throws major fits when we make him take them off to even wash them! He walks around with them on saying "man...man" (translation: superman...).

Carter's favorite gift had to be the little tyke's slide that Santa left him, he hardly paid attention to the other gifts and mom opened most of them....

In case you are wondering why it looks like Carter has the chicken pox....he doesn't, but he did have impetigo that caused all the blister like sores on his face, no fun.
